The usage of Sanger Sequecing Instrument

The Sanger sequencing instrument is a piece of laboratory equipment used for DNA sequencing. It is named after Frederick Sanger, the British scientist who invented the Sanger Sequencing Method, also known as the chain termination method.

The Sanger sequencing instrument automates the sequencing process by performing the various steps required for DNA sequencing, such as DNA amplification, DNA denaturation, primer annealing, and extension. It allows researchers to determine the exact order of nucleotides in a DNA molecule, which is crucial for many biological studies, including genetic research, disease diagnosis, and forensic investigations.

The instrument is equipped with a laser and fluorescent detectors to detect the different colored fluorophores attached to the terminating nucleotides during the sequencing reaction. These fluorophores emit light at different wavelengths when excited by the laser, and the instrument reads the emitted light to determine the identity of the nucleotide at each position in the DNA sequence.
